Welcome to the Houston Soccer Club News Letter

On June 12, 2008 - Welcome everyone to the first edition of the Houston Soccer Club newsletter.

We hope this will be a way to keep everyone informed of all the thing going on at Houston S.C. Starting off in March we held our 3rd annual Beef and Beer. I would like to personally thank everyone for coming out and helping raise almost $1000.00. This money will be used to buy weed and feed to keep up both Saul and Houston's fields and so many other things that the kids need to keep playing soccer. Hope to see more people there next year!! We have received our storage container at Houston Playground, which will be used to store all the equipment.

INDOOR SEASON RECAPE
U-9 Girls
Came in second place in their division with a record of 6-1-2. Making it through the playoffs to the championship. The game was played on 03/17/08 ending in a 1-1 tie. Bridesburg won, in a shoot out.
U-9 Boys
The boys made much improvement this season. Staying in position, fielding bouncing balls off the walls. The boys had alot of fun during the season. They are determined to make the playoffs next season. WAY TO GO BOYS!!!
U-12 Boys
The boys have been improving each year and developing their skills. This year they won the outdoor championship. They were split into two teams for indoor an U11 and U12 teams. Both competed very well and making the playoffs. The U12 team went on to win championship.
U -14 girls
Had a rough start this year losing almost all of our games. In every game the girls gave 110%, not catching a break. But they bounced back at the end of the season taking over and not only getting to the playoffs but, going to the championship once again to play Feltonville for the 3rd year in a row. We did end up losing it was a good game. Way to turn things around girls. Thanks you Amanda from all of us. Girls you know in your coach's eyes you are #1
U-14 Boys
The U-14 boys had a changing in there heads coach coming in to the indoor season. Read to get to work and re-adjust to the indoor game. They were ready for there first game going up 1-0 early trading goals Richie Vose on defense and Max Ullman in goal they for the first time had a great game. By the end of the season there skill, communication and over all play has improved greatly. They can't wait for outdoor to start.
U- 15 Girls Avalanche
The girls ended season with a 6-1-3 record. Finishing 2nd in their division gaving them a 1st round bye in the playoffs. The Avalanche defeated the Tornadoes to face the Scorchers in the championship game. It was a very exciting game coming down to the second over time period. With one minute left, a penalty kick decided the outcome. Avalanche scored talking home the victory for the U-15 / U16 girls division.
U-15 Tornados
The U-15 Tornados played a strong indoor season, registering a 6-2-2 record. The team defeated the league's regular season champion, the previously undefeated Lawncrest team 1-0 in the last regular season game. They out scored their opponents 25-12 and the only two losses coming at the hands of the other Houston teams. The playoff were tightly contested, with a 2-1 win over Cohocksink and a 2-3 loss to the Houston Avalanche in the semi-finials.
U-19 Girls
The 2007 outdoor season was very exciting for many reasons. This is the first time the PDR allowed secondary players to be fielded. We had 2 players from the U-14 team, 4 U-15 and 3 U-16 girls to complement the existing U19 core players. It was a great to watch the older players interact with the younger players and prepare the for high school level. This team ended as runners up in a very competitive league of high school players. The girls were split into two teams and competed very well. Both teams made it to the playoff one going all the way to take the championship. The end of the year Awards Banquet was wonderful. Great job to Patty Toal. We use this time to recognize our children, coach's and parent's for all their hard work through out the season. This years recipients of the McBride awards were Paige (PP) Pelliciotti and Patty Toal. Congratulation to you both it is a very nice to be recognized by your peers.
This year we had many girls move on to High School making the teams at Hallahan, Carroll, Central, The Mount, Girls High and Plymouth Whitemarsh. Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!!!! On a sadder note we will be having some girls leaving our Houston soccer family. We would like to say good luck to the U19 girls that are leaving us to embark on their new adventures in college, Karissa "Krome" Disney, Moria Foley, Julia Gambaro, Kelly-Ann McFarlane, Paige (PP) Pelliciotti, and Erin Ryan,. These girls have been with us for all of their soccer lives and will be missed dearly. Girls just know you always have a place in the hearts of Houston SC.
GOOD LUCK AND BE SAFE!!!!! Come back and catch a game when you are home on break.
